GTA V first impressions.
I finally got GTA V. Almost a week after it came out (I'm still fuming with Amazon). |
So, I had to take a while to just get into the game (over 60% completion). Also, I wanted to include some impressions of the multiplayer mode. These are my first impressions of GTA V. I want to keep my impressions brief. Nobody wants to an essay on GTA V. And I don't want to write one.
Single Player
Ok. I could just say it's amazing and a great improvement on GTA IV. But that would be selling this game short. I think, in terms of the open-world genre. This game is revolutionary. Now, hold your horses. I know the game is still about senseless killing and doing crazy things. But in the case of GTA V, it's full of little things that make up big differences. One example of a little thing that makes a big difference is the activities that all three characters can take part in. The sports are not only fun but they also serve a purpose. If you put the time and effort into them, your character's stamina and overall strike strength. Of course, it's completely optional, but the fact that it gives you the ability is great. Another great small thing that really impressed me is the use of the mobile/cell phone. The fact that when you take your phone out, the character actually takes it out and the phone they are holding is actually animated just makes me smile. It just shows the level of attention and care that Rockstar take with their games. Another, all together bigger improvement is the driving controls. I absoluted hated the controls for IV. They felt sluggish, unresponsive and just bad. I can safely say that things are different in V. I can finally feel like I'm actually driving a car. Moreover, each car feels different in terms of handling and speed. Something I felt was missing in IV. I could go on, but you are probably playing the game right now. So I won't go any further.
Multiplayer
It only launched yesterday and despite the problems some people have been encountering with it. I managed to play it as soon as it was available and I haven't encountered any problems since. In the time I spent playing it I was fortunate enough to race against and even beat a member of IGN. I soon came across the brutal nature of the online mode. So, I just robbed a convenience store. I went to the nearest ATM to deposit the money. Suddenly, I heard gunfire and then I was dead. Another player took me out. The worst part was, I didn't get to deposit the money. But it was ok. I hunted them down and took my revenge. This is just one example of the mayhem and potential of GTA Online.
