Go Indie
I consider myself to be a real Marvelite. I dabble in DC occasionally. But recently I have diverted my attention away from Marvel and DC in search of something different. I am glad to say that I have found some amazing comics that are not from Marvel or DC. Here are just a few that I have found on my journey through the comic book multiverse.
A quick note, the comics I am going to feature are available on Comixology if you don't have a Comixology account, it's free and the service is available across multiple platforms. Also, I don't want to give too much away about these comics because I want you to read them, so don't expect in depth reviews.
Bomb Queen (Publisher: Image)
I think that Bomb Queen is an amazing series because it is unlike the standard storytelling formula found in so many mainstream comics. Rather than the story be told from the hero perspective. Bomb Queen makes the villain the center of attention. Not only that, but she is a villain that wins and you actually root for. (Warning; It does contain some adult themes)
Aphrodite IX (Publisher: Top Cow)
For me, the art style of the series, particularly Vol.2 is simply breathtaking! It looks beautiful, along with a great, complex plot. This is a great read. I would suggest picking up Vol.1 first, because that is great too. One of the best things about Vol.2 is that issue one is free. Yes, you read that right...... FREE!!! If you like Sci-Fi or you are just looking for something a little different to Spiderman and Superman, this is a great place to start.
Chew - (Publisher: Image)
The thing I love the most about this series is the concept. I won't ruin it for you because I really want you to read this. Let's just put it this way, it involves something very close to me. Food. Also, issue one is free. That's pretty awesome methinks.
These are just a few series that I have recently discovered. Are there any you would recommend? Don't forget to comment!!!
