Switch Hype

Image
Even PS4 characters are hyped for Switch! As I mentioned in my last post, which you can read  here.  I am now the proud owner of a Nintendo Switch. I couldn't be happier. I have downloaded a few demos (I don't have the money for all the games I want right now) and I am really enjoying Fire Emblem Warriors.  Just like Hyrule Warriors before it, it is so much more than a Dynasty Warriors game with Nintendo characters. Well, I could write more. But I made a video instead. To save you from doing anymore reading than necessary for today. You are welcome. Watch here.

Jrspesh's Return/Finally got a Switch!

Image
I have finally returned. It's been a while. Over a year I believe. I have been away for too long.  I have been trying and failing to get my life together and chase and catch my dreams. But enough of the sad stuff. Let's get back to what we all love to talk about GAMES! So, Early in the year I went to the Nintendo Switch Premiere Event at Earl's Court. Eagerly waiting to play the Nintendo Switch for the first time.  ARMS was very popular. The line to wait to play was never-ending. I destroyed a few people on Ultra Street Fighter 2.  The Switch in all it's glory.  I got to play FAST RMX. Very good showcase of the Switch's abilities.  So more ARMS.  The line for Zelda: Breath of the Wild was so long. I never got to play it. It was a very busy morning.  As you can see from my terrible photography. It was busy but fun. After I left the event. I felt so excited for the Switch and couldn't wait to buy one. But, wh...

Some more PS4 gameplay

Image
Here's a short video of one of my favourite games on the PS4. It's an Indie title called Transistor. The gameplay is not taken from the story mode so it shouldn't spoil it for you. If you have the chance to play this game if you haven't already, give it a go. If you can't see the video. Try here. Let me know what you think in the comments below!

The Plan

So, a recent story that has been very popular for many different reasons, none other than the Sony hacking issue was going to be a big topic I was going to write a two part post about. But, it became too complex and I didn't see the point in posting a puzzle for you to have to decipher. So, instead I am going to condense the article into one post looking back at what happened and my take on it all. This should be posted tomorrow. So look out for it then. In the meantime, check out the rest of the blog and my YouTube Channel. I think I'll upload some PS4 gameplay since PSN is back now! That's all for now folks! Catch you tomorrow!

I have returned.

Image
I have been away for quite a while. I'm sorry about that. However, there was a valid reason. This was my final year of University and I had to write my dissertation. It was very time consuming. So, I didn't have time to write any posts. The dissertation is now complete so I have loads of free time. This is the first post I've done in a while and I thought I would make it a bit special. So, I have uploaded some of my own gameplay from my own PS4, of Infamous Second Son . Before you even begin to panic, there are no spoilers in the video. I used a combination of techniques to get this video onto YouTube. First, I used the Share Factory app on the PS4 to edit the video and then I copied the file from the PS4's capture gallery onto a USB and then I uploaded the file from the USB onto YouTube. So, no need for  Twitch or Ustream account anymore or Facebook video uploading!! Anyway, I'm glad to be back. Any thoughts on Infamous? Let me know in the comments!

IT STILL WORKS!!

Image
My controller doesn't look like that anymore. So, I'm really enjoying my PS4 and my Wii U and I still play my 360 (Mostly for The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us) from time to time. One day I was looking at the cabinet that houses all of my consoles, past and present. I could clearly see my Dreamcast, my Gamecube, my Super Nintendo and the Nintendo 64. Then, I realised  I didn't see the PS2. Naturally, I began to panic. Searching high and low and all of the space inbetween , I finally found it standing behind my TV. As soon as I found it, I felt I had to make an attempt at booting it up and playing it. I somehow managed to find all of the hookups (The power cable and Scart lead) and once I had set all of that up, the moment of truth arrived..... I turned the console on and the most disgusting sound came from the PS2. The sound sent shivers down my spine. But, despite this the PS2 booted up! I couldn't believe it! After more than five years of lying dormant, th...

Assassin's Creed 4 was.....

Image
Assassin's Creed is a franchise that I have been following ever since the first game was released. I own every Creed game. I have really enjoyed the franchise, but I have to say that it is getting a bit fatigued now and it's beginning to show. Let me just say this before you ask. My favourite Assassin's Creed game is easily Assassin's Creed 2. It was just perfect. The setting was great, the characters were interesting and likeable and it had Leonardo Da Vinci in it. I thought that after the awesomeness of that game, the franchise could only get better. It did not get better. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood was a great game, but it didn't quite fill me with the same sense of enjoyment that its predecessor did. This trend continued with Revelations. I think Revelations was the beginning of the true decline. The story felt rushed and never really answered the questions it claimed it would. The only thing that I loved about Revelations was the E3 trailer that in...

I think I'm doing it wrong

Image
I tried squinting like him ... it didn't work. I can't see it! It just looks the same to me! What's all the fuss about?! At this point you are probably wondering what I'm talking about. Well, wonder no more! I am talking about fps or Frames Per Second and also 720/1080p. Recently there has been a lot of talk about these two things in relation to gaming, especially with the next generation fast approaching on the horizon. The reason I feel a bit lost in the subject is because I can't see it. Some people make a big deal out of it and begin to complain about certain games not running at native 1080p and 60fps (whatever that means). Me on the other hand, when I start playing a game on my Wii U or 360 I don't think about fps or HD. I think about having fun. It's the same argument I always make . What difference does fps and HD make if the game sucks? That's right, none. The game would still suck. I think some people just want to take the fun out of...

My 1st day/night with my PS4

Image
The day has finally arrived. I now have a PS4 in my possession. I think I got a great deal. As you can see in the picture. I got the PS4, Man of Steel  and Despicable Me 2 on Blu-Ray, Assassin's Creed 4 and One Year membership to PS+. All for £425. I'm not going to bother with explaining the unboxing or anything. Rather, I'm just going to say. The PS4 is a great console. It is very easy to use and has a very attractive design. I chose it over the Xbox One not because of a bias or preference towards Sony. I chose it because it was cheaper and it attracted me more than the Xbox One. That being said, when I did play the Xbox One I enjoyed the experience and I think for anyone that buy one or has owns an Xbox One it will entertain them greatly. As you can see in the image, Assassin's Creed 4 was the only physical game I got with the console. It was either Creed 4 or FIFA 14. For me, the choice was obvious. I also downloaded the free games as part of the PS+ promotio...

2014 is looking very promising (Part 1)

Image
So, it's 2014. A lot of great things are coming this year. In this post I want to highlight a few things that I will be looking forward to in the new year... The Amazing Spiderman 2   -   I am really looking forward to this. I really loved the first film and I think this new film shows a lot of promise. I was a little bit worried about there being too many villains but, this trailer sort of set my mind at rest. With the news that these films will lead to a Venom and Sinister Six spin-offs. I am even more excited to see what happens with the Amazing Spiderman. If you can't see the video click  here. Captain America: The Winter Solider-     Captain America returns! I loved the way the first film introduced Steve Rogers and I can't wait to see what Cap is upto  after the Battle for New York. If you can't see the video click  here. Guardians of the Galaxy-  This is the film I'm looking forward to the ...

Early problems with the PS4

Image
It's having a few teething problems. I'm sure you're all aware by now of the Four, yes only four know reports (so far) of issues with the PS4. Most of them are reporting problems with the console not connecting to the TV or not working or functioning in anyway. Funnily enough, I'm not surprised. These things always happen in the launch period. Not so much with Nintendo in my experience but Microsoft and Sony seem to have these teething problems with the launch of all of their consoles.  The most important thing now, is that Sony fix this problem fast. Before it begins to occur more. You can check this link out to read more on this issue. So, after this news are you reconsidering getting the PS4 at launch? Will you get one at a later date? Have you been discouraged from getting one all together? Let me know!!!

Gaming Perfection

Image
Do you consider yourself to be a gaming perfectionist? Do you always have to get 100%? I know I am. I just think that it's nice to be able to say that you got 100% in something. It pays testament to how dedicated and how good you are as a gamer, that's not to say people that don't complete games 100% aren't good gamers, I just think that gaining perfection in a game is a very worthy achievement. What do you think? Are you a perfectionist when it comes to your gaming achievements? As always, let me know your thoughts in the comments!

Sad News

Image
This picture says it all.  I regret to inform you all that after much deliberation and thought. I have decided to cancel my pre-order for the PS4. This is due mostly to the fact that I am in my final year of University and I need to focus on finishing it and getting all of the work done (there is a lot of work to do). So with that, I thought to myself that if I got the PS4 next month, I would most certainly fail this year because I would be so busy playing PS4. Not to mention, last week I found out that the past two years don't count for anything, so I really need to make sure I pass. But in the new year, I will get PS4. I just wanted to say this so that when it is released and you are all wondering why I haven't posted anything about it. This is the reason why.

Next-Gen. Is it really next?

Image
I couldn't believe GTA V looked this good, but it does. I've pre-ordered a PS4 and in preparation for its arrival, I decided to look at some of the upcoming games coming to the platform. That's when it hit me. I know in time the games will become better looking. But for now, if I'm completely frank. They aren't that impressive. When I say that, I mean in comparison to the top notch 360/PS3 games like: Battlefield and GTA V. They aren't what I was expecting when all of those fanboys and even the developers were describing the look of next gen games. Maybe I'm being naive but, I think PS3 could handle this.  I think that we will only really see the difference between current gen and next gen when the games being created will no longer be multi-platform. Once games like Battlefield and other high-end graphic games are no longer being developed for 360/PS3. Then the Xbox One and PS4's power and graphic prowess will come into effect. I don...

GTA V first impressions.

Image
I finally got GTA V. Almost a week after it came out (I'm still fuming with Amazon). So, I had to take a while to just get into the game (over 60% completion). Also, I wanted to include some impressions of the multiplayer mode. These are my first impressions of GTA V. I want to keep my impressions brief. Nobody wants to an essay on GTA V. And I don't want to write one.  Single Player Ok. I could just say it's amazing and a great improvement on GTA IV. But that would be selling this game short. I think, in terms of the open-world genre. This game is revolutionary. Now, hold your horses. I know the game is still about senseless killing and doing crazy things. But in the case of GTA V, it's full of little things that make up big differences. One example of a little thing that makes a big difference is the activities that all three characters can take part in. The sports are not only fun but they also serve a purpose. If you put the time and effort into them, you...

The reason for my absence

I'm going to be honest. I've been slacking recently, it's been too long since my last post. Part of the reason for my absence is actually what the last post was based on. GTA V. But not because I was playing the game so much that I forgot about the blog (it could happen). I haven't been busy playing the game. I've been waiting for the game since last Sunday! It still hasn't arrived. Amazon has said it will arrive on Monday. So I've avoided my laptop and the internet so the game wouldn't be spoiled for me. So that on Monday I could play it and then throughout the week I plan on writing about it on the blog. Instead of playing the game. I have been preparing myself for my 3rd year at university, which starts in the first week of October. But you don't want to hear or read about that. Anyway, don't forget about me. I'm still here. I will be resuming with the blog as usual.

My life is going to be taken over by GTA V

Image
I am going to be spending a lot of time with these dudes. The only bad thing about getting GTA V next week is, that it is coming out two weeks before I go back to University. What makes it even worse is that it's going to be my third and final year! How can I concentrate on studying when I have GTA V? How I'm going to be able to attend lectures once PS4 comes is another thing entirely. Are picking up GTA V?

Can't we all just get along?

Based on the most recent developments in the gaming world, the rivalry between the different gaming communities has seemed to flare up again. This time however, it seems to be more about insulting people rather than debating. However, there are people that try to remain neutral. But can you really be neutral? These are three behaviors that I have observed online. Fanboys vs Fanboys -  This doesn't apply to all gaming fans but there are some fans that always take it too far. They should just calm down and love gaming. Ever since Microsoft changed their stance on some of the Xbox One features it created a rather large discussion. It mostly consisted of people being confused about it and then the fanboys came into the discussion. At that point, it stopped being about gaming and just became people hurling insults at each other. I for one, hate this side of the gaming community. It's never about the merits or achievements. It's just about saying the console they like is...

A 2nd thought for 2DS.

Image
Maybe it's not so bad After the surprise announcement yesterday, I wrote a post about the 2DS and I basically said it was a waste of time. But after having some time to think about it. I can see its merits. Price - I think that the fact that the console doesn't include 3D obviously makes it cheaper to produce and that means it can have a cheaper retail price than the 3DS.  The Target Audience - It's not meant for me. I think that is why I was struggling to understand it. This console is for the children that want a 3DS but are  not old enough to utilize the 3D feature. Moreover, this console is targeted at the parents. They are always going to be looking for a good deal. This offers that. They can buy the console and  not worry about any possible health risk that the 3D may have on their children. Also, there is another audience for this console. People that want a 3DS but aren't bothered about the 3D and just want to play the games and use the featur...
