This does not look good.

I know I am writing about this a little late. But the story seems to develop on a daily basis. So I don't really feel that late to the party. What am I talking about I hear you ask? Well, it's all the trouble Sony is having. I was going to mention the new James Bond film in this article. But, I don't think that's necessary. Also, I left the whole story about The Interview. In all honesty. I don't actually care about that side of the Sony hack story. I want to focus on the trouble Spiderman is facing. Spiderman seems to be in big trouble.  I was reading about some proposed plans Sony had/has for the Spiderman franchise. You can read the article here.  I think that Sony are trying too hard to make a different kind of Spidey film. Instead of just using the source material to the best of their ability. They are using it to make more origin movies and nonsensical spinoffs. When I heard Sony wanted to make a film about Aunt May I laughed for five minutes. That l...

Big Hero 6

Image
I can't wait to see this film! The fact that Disney are using their skills in animation to bring more Marvel characters to life, especially some characters that may be more obscure to the mainstream just makes me feel so glad. This little teaser excites me so much! I love the tone and overall quality of the presentation and the fact that the creators of Wreck-it Ralph are making this movie fills me with confidence about the direction this movie will take. The only painful part now is, the wait. Anyways, that was my quick thoughts on Big Hero 6. But, what do you think? Let me know in the comments!

Finally...

FINALLY!!!! Man of Steel 2, Batman vs Superman. Whatever we called it before. The next film to feature DC's finest heroes has an official name and logo.  Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. After seeing the first image of Affleck as Batman I was pleasantly surprised and intrigued by the choice to base the costume on The Dark Knight Returns design. Especially, after the things I said in  previous posts about him being cast as Batman. You can read those posts here  and here. Perhaps the film will pay homage to the famous battle scene from the graphic novel? Only time will tell. You can read more about the new name and logo  here . Well, now we know the official name. Does this news excite you? Are you looking forward to the movie? Let me know your thoughtds  in the comments section below!

2014 is looking very promising (Part 1)

Image
So, it's 2014. A lot of great things are coming this year. In this post I want to highlight a few things that I will be looking forward to in the new year... The Amazing Spiderman 2   -   I am really looking forward to this. I really loved the first film and I think this new film shows a lot of promise. I was a little bit worried about there being too many villains but, this trailer sort of set my mind at rest. With the news that these films will lead to a Venom and Sinister Six spin-offs. I am even more excited to see what happens with the Amazing Spiderman. If you can't see the video click  here. Captain America: The Winter Solider-     Captain America returns! I loved the way the first film introduced Steve Rogers and I can't wait to see what Cap is upto  after the Battle for New York. If you can't see the video click  here. Guardians of the Galaxy-  This is the film I'm looking forward to the ...

X-Men Days of Futurepast

Image
I'm not going to lie. I don't like the X-men films. However, I felt obligated to share this. I don't think it looks particularly great but that's my opinion and I think you should make your own. You can watch the trailer here.

Man of Steel and its problems

Image
He should be locked up for his crimes against me MAN OF STEEL WAS AMAZING!!! It was. But once you start to see it and its faults. It's not so amazing anymore. Not to take away from what Snyder did with Superman in bringing him back from the abyss that Superman Returns left him in. But I think he treated Superman too much like his previous films, that was his mistake. First of all, the film was too long. I don't know why Snyder can't tell a story in under one hundred minutes. It's possible. Snyder doesn't seem to know that though. His last four films have all been over one hundred minutes. In the case of Man of Steel, it was long for no reason. It was just needlessly long. It had too many flashbacks and took too long to get to the point. Another thing that I found really annoying about the Man of Steel was the fact that it was basically a CGI heavy version of Superman 2. It has the same villains, the same fights, the same outcome. There were differe...

I have a slight problem here...

Image
Me in front of my Laptop. BLANK, BLANK AND MORE BLANK. I got nothing, nada, nil, zilch... . you get the idea. Basically I have reached a brick wall. I just can't be bothered to write anything. I think they call it writer's block. The thing about that is....I don't consider myself to be a writer. So, what's the problem? I think it may lie in the subjects I choose to write about. I was writing about the Ben Affleck as Batman story. But I can't keep writing about it because it's old news now. Also in relation to film. 2013 has been a monumentally slow year in film compared to last year. So I don't have that many films to talk about. I also have a problem with games. All of the games I currently own , I have already completed and the games I want to play are all being released from September onward. In the mean time, what can I write about? In terms of comics, I can't write about comics I don't have yet. I have quite a bit of catching up to ...

Zac Snyder you mug!

Image
BATFLECK!! BEN AFFLECK AS BATMAN!! WHAT?!?! My face when I found out. It seems like Zac Snyder wants to become the new Brett Ratner. He seems to want  to make comic book fans angry. Ben Affleck as Batman? Are you kidding me? No. Just no. When I say that he is becoming Brett Ratner,  I mean he is taking something beloved by the comic book community and ruining it. As much I thought Man of Steel was an improvement on Superman Returns. It could have been better. By adding Batman to the mix, it makes some of the things that were unique about the Man of Steel questionable. Namely, if there is no Kryptonite in this universe, how would Batman stand a chance against Superman? Unless they are going the Dark Knight Returns route ending in the formation of the World's Finest. Even if that is the case, BEN AFFLECK BEING BATMAN IS CRAY CRAY!!! Back to the Brett Ratner comparison. I think this new film is going to be disappointing. Not just because of the Ben Affleck casting but ...

The World's Finest...The World's Lamest more like

Meet Bruce Wayne Welcome back the Son of Krypton No. Just no. It cannot be! He is not a good choice.  Just when I thought DC/WB were picking up momentum after the Dark Knight Trilogy and the Man of Steel, then they announce this? I'll tell you something right now. This film isn't going to be anywhere near as good as Man of Steel, so it won't be troubling Aveners: Age of Ultron at all.  I don't think the film will suck because of him being cast in it. I'm just going to find it harder to take the film seriously or as a serious contender against the might of the Marvel cinematic universe. But of course, only time will tell. Don't get me wrong, I like Ben Aflleck. I just don't think he is superhero material, much less The Caped Crusader. I mean, we only have to look at history to tell us why he isn't the best choice. Yes, I am talking about Daredevil. That absolutely shocking shambles of a film did his reputation no favors. I remem...

Be more Indie

I thought I would write another post about comics that are not Marvel or DC. I've found a couple that I think are really great. Once again all of the comics featured are available on Comixology . (I just realized all of the comics I mentioned in this list have female protagonists).  Here's the run down: Idolized - Publisher: Aspen Comics I love this series. It has a great story. I love that it flips the idea of what superheroes are really like and their backstories. I would like to give you all of the details but, as you know I want you to read it. So I can't tell you much. But, if you love Superheroes, you'll love this. Bandette  - Publisher : Monkeybrain One of the things you'll instantly notice about this series is its art style. It's very Cartoonish and I LOVE IT!! It's funny and has great characters, what else could you ask for? It even won the Best Digital Comic Eisner Award this year, which is pretty good. But, it means that it's only a...

DC's direction

Image
So, DC/WB has decided not to take the Avengers Initaivate approach and are going to make another Man of Steel film. This time however, Batman will be in the film. I think this is a good idea. DC/WB would be starting this too late to try and do what Marvel is doing. The best bet is to try and take their own approach. The Dark Knight Trilogy was a good place to start. It sets a standard for other DC films that the Man of Steel has continued. Of course, with Christian Bale unlikely to return as the Capded Crusader, DC/WB  will have to find a replacement for him. Also, they are going to have to make all other films leading up to the eventual Justice League within the Man of Steel Universe. This could work. However, I think that all films are now going to have to be as big as the Man of Steel because anything smaller will be considered a waste of time and a failure. Also I think to save time and money, DC/WB should  do more crossover films with other Just...

Go Indie

I consider myself to be a real Marvelite. I dabble in DC occasionally. But recently I have diverted my attention away from Marvel and DC in search of something different. I am glad to say that I have found some amazing comics that are not from Marvel or DC. Here are just a few that I have found on my journey through the comic book multiverse.  A quick note, the comics I am going to feature are available on  Comixology  if you don't have a Comixology account, it's free and the service is available across multiple platforms. Also, I don't want to give too much away about these comics because I want you to read them, so don't expect in depth reviews. Bomb Queen (Publisher: Image) I think that Bomb Queen is an amazing series because it is unlike the standard storytelling formula found in so many mainstream comics. Rather than the story be told from the hero perspective. Bomb Queen makes the villain the center of attention. Not only t...

The Curse of Superman

We all know that the Superman actors of the past have had some issues with their careers after they have donned the infamous cape. But with the release of Man of Steel, the curse is once again in the spotlight. Will it effect Henry? You can read more about the curse   here .   What if Henry is next?  What could happen to him?  If I was offered the position of Superman in any live-action form. I would run for the hills! I don't really feel like being cursed for the rest of my life. Thanks but, no thanks. This curse isn't superstition. It is definitely real. Just ask Brandon Routh or Tom Welling or even Dean Cain (if you can find him). Christopher Reeve and George Reeves are unavailable for comment. What do you think is going to happen to Henry? Any thoughts? Don't forget to comment!
